Running to the beach was written in the middle of winter, at our summer house close to a beautiful beach with white sand. Outside, the season was quiet and cold, but the place itself holds so many memories of warmth, movement, and long days by the sea. Writing this song became a way of stepping into another time and another feeling.
The song is built on a mix of imagination and memory. Part of it is a fantasy of that perfect summer day, when everything feels light, the sun is warm, and nothing else really matters. Bags packed in a rush, shoes kicked off, sand between your toes, and the sound of the waves calling you closer. That moment when you run toward the water without thinking, just because it feels right.
At the same time, Running to the beach carries memories from youth. Of going to the beach with friends, laughing, playing, staying out too long, and feeling like summer would never end. That sense of freedom, closeness, and endless possibility is something many of us carry with us, even when life becomes more structured and demanding.
The song is also about longing. Longing for summer, for warmth, for those uncomplicated days when time seemed to stretch forever. Especially in winter, that longing can feel strong. Writing this song was a reminder that those moments are still waiting for us. Maybe not exactly the same, but close enough to feel familiar and true.
Running to the beach is meant to bring a smile, a sense of movement, and a small taste of summer, even when it feels far away. A reminder of where we have been, and of what we can look forward to again.
