There is something beautifully contradictory about Sweden.
We can be emotionally reserved and deeply passionate at the same time. We value independence, yet long for closeness. We often avoid extremes, searching instead for balance, nuance and something that feels… lagom.
That became the heart of this album.
“Så Lagom” is an album about relationships, self-belief, attraction, freedom, perspective and the complicated ways we look at ourselves and other people. Some songs carry warmth and hope, others irony, melancholy or playful distance. Several tracks are intentionally written with double meanings, allowing listeners to interpret them differently depending on their own experiences, memories and state of mind.
Life is rarely simple or perfectly symmetrical. Neither are these songs.
Some of the tracks are completely new Swedish interpretations of songs that were originally written in English, now rebuilt with different moods, production and emotional tonalities. Others stay much closer to the original versions, keeping much of the same music while translating the lyrics into Swedish. The result became something unexpected: familiar songs suddenly revealing new emotions, new humor and new layers simply by changing language and perspective.
The Swedish language brought a different rhythm and personality into the music. Sometimes more playful. Sometimes more direct. Sometimes more reflective and understated. There is often a small wink hidden somewhere beneath the surface.
This album was never meant to be perfect. It was meant to feel human.
A little nostalgic. A little emotional. A little ironic. Sometimes warm, sometimes messy, sometimes thoughtful after midnight. Like conversations at the end of summer nights, long car rides, half-empty glasses, people we still carry with us and moments that never became exactly what we expected.
And maybe that is why “Så Lagom” became the right title after all.
Not too much.
Not too little.
Just lagom.
I truly hope you will enjoy this more Swedish sound and tonalitet as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
